Michael Awoke
Michael was an Associate Consultant at the McKinsey & Company East Africa office, his work largely focused on transformational projects in the public sector including Ministries of Health, Finance, and EIC in Ethiopia; He has done this across several countries within Africa. Before joining McKinsey and Company, Michael has worked as a lecturer and Director of the Drug Information Center at the College of Health Sciences at the Addis Ababa University. He also comes with an extensive experience working with large pharmaceuticals like Sandoz, Novartis. He has also worked as a Health Commodities Importation and Marketing Consultant.

A well respected mentor and lecturer on pharmacotherapeutics and hospital care quality improvement, and has developed quality improvement projects related to reducing medical errors, improving oncology care, and lead the projects to its successful implementation. Michael led the establishment of the first Drug Information Center in Ethiopia directed and supported the scale up to other teaching hospitals in Ethiopia in collaboration with several development partners.

A well respected lecturer and mentor, Michael is well adept in developing business proposals, managing stakeholders and providing strategic and technical support on such projects as organizational transformation, emergency preparedness and FDI promotion to promote local manufacturing.
Michael holds an MBA from Jimma University, B.Sc. in Pharmacy from Addis Ababa Universities, and M.Sc. from Howard/Addis Ababa University combined program.
